South Africa: STEP Sustainability for Young Women in Ekurhuleni
Partner: Community Media Trust (CMT)
Duration: Since April 2026
Description of the Project:
In partnership with the Community Media Trust (CMT), we are implementing the Student Training for Entrepreneurial Promotion – Sustainability (STEP-S Training) in Ekurhuleni, South Africa. The project aims to strengthen the economic independence of young women from structurally disadvantaged communities by providing practical entrepreneurial skills and mentoring to start and develop their own income-generating activities.
Following a Training of Trainers (ToT) in May, CMT is delivering the programme locally, supporting participants as they develop and test sustainable business ideas that contribute to positive social, environmental, and economic impact. Throughout the training, participants receive guidance in entrepreneurship and sustainability, culminating in a Market Day where they showcase their products and services to the community.
The project promotes entrepreneurship as a pathway to economic empowerment and sustainable development, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
